Recover Quicker. Feel Better. Train Harder.
We offer a variety of services to help you recover quicker, move better, feel better and train harder!
Soft Tissue Work
“hands-on” techniques are used, either alone or in combination, to decrease pain, increase circulation, decrease muscle spasm, increase muscle flexibility, and improve overall mobility. Following assessment, your therapists may choose to use classic massage techniques like effleurage and petrissage, or more advanced techniques like deep friction and trigger point/soft tissue release.
Instrument Assisted Soft Tissue Mobilization
Instrument assisted soft tissue mobilization, or IASTM, is performed with ergonomically designed instruments, typically surgical grade metal, that detect and treat fascial restrictions, encourage rapid localization and effectively treat areas exhibiting soft tissue fibrosis, chronic inflammation, or degeneration. The ergonomic design of the instruments provide us with the ability to locate restrictions and treat the affected area with the appropriate amount of pressure with a decreased risk of provider fatigue and thus compromising on pressure or length of treatment.
Therapeutic Cupping Technique
Cupping is a different soft tissue modality providing a different mechanical sensation to the targeted tissues. When performed, it can have a significant impact modulating pain and improving movement.
The majority of soft tissue techniques such as IASTM or Active Release utilize variations of a compressive force while cupping on the other hand provides distractive/decompression forces to the superficial layers of tissue. The theory of this modality is that these forces will help promote blood flow and neurodynamic mobility to reduce sensitivity of movement. This mechanical decompression with movement creates a skin rolling effect creates a very sensory rich environment that the nervous system can respond favorably towards.
Body Tempering was developed by Donnie Thompson in August of 2014. Besides being a famous powerlifter and the first human to lift 3,000 pounds total in the squat, bench press, and deadlift, Donnie is also a world-renowned rehab specialist sought-after by countless athletes in different sports and disciplines.
At CrossPhysio we use a tool called The Boomstick. How does body tempering work? The shape and weight of the Boomstick allows for pressure to be placed on a specific area via the contoured ends and adjusted by either pushing against or resisting it. Additionally the knurled areas of the Boomstick can be used to put pressure against the skin as well as twisted to provide a shearing effect to the tissue and fascia.
Marc Pro Electrical Muscle Stimulation Device
“The basis for recovery is the normalization of tissue through the movement of nourishment and waste in the body. MarcPro® is specifically designed to accelerate this process by creating unique, strong, but completely non-fatiguing muscle contractions that set off a series of physiologic events. MarcPro® calls this a “Muscle Activated Recovery Cascade”, or “MARC®” for short.”
Simply using it after a heavy bout, whether that be CrossFit, biking, running…whatever you train…will help move the waste and deoxygenated blood away from fatigued areas and bring in nourishment, without stress or fatigue, accelerating the recovery of muscles!
TimTam Percussive Massage
Percussion massage (also called “deep muscle stimulation) is beneficial for a number of applications. The best results are being seen on the effect on recovery from intense exercise. The TimTam causes contractions that are up to 30 times more powerful than normal voluntary contractions which may lead to enhanced muscle strength and improved muscle recovery. It improves muscle tone and balance, relieving muscular tightness and reducing the physical stress placed on bones and joints and will also increase circulation to bring more oxygen and nutrients into muscle tissue; reducing muscle fatigue and soreness.
